Consumers do not need platform noise

Most API consumers do not care that the platform is moving from Edge to Apigee X. They care whether URLs, certificates, tokens, credentials, quotas, error responses, or support flows will change. Communication should be concise, practical, and tailored by consumer impact.

Message structure

Segment consumers by impact: no action, validation recommended, action required, or high-touch partner. Provide test window, support contact, expected behavior, fallback plan, and deadlines. For OAuth-sensitive consumers, include token renewal expectations and credential validation steps.

Professional standard

  • Send early notice with practical detail.
  • Provide a validation environment where possible.
  • Confirm high-value consumers before cutover.
  • Keep post-cutover support staffed and informed.

Good communication makes migration feel controlled even when the platform underneath changes significantly.
