Connect Direct

IBM Connect:Direct is a robust, point-to-point file transfer middleware for secure, reliable, and automated exchange of high-volume data between enterprises, acting as a secure alternative to FTP for critical business processes requiring assured delivery across different platforms and systems. It's designed for unattended, 24/7 operation, featuring features like scheduling, checkpoint restart, and recovery, with management through web consoles (GUI/CLI) and APIs for integration. Key Functions & Features: - Assured Delivery: Ensures files reach their destination with reliability, even with large volumes or interruptions. - Secure & Automated: Provides secure, script-based, unattended file transfers, ideal for mission-critical applications. - Platform Independent: Moves data (text, binary, EDI) across mainframes, midrange, and other platforms. - Peer-to-Peer (P2P): Uses Primary Node (PNODE) and Secondary Node (SNODE) architecture for direct server-to-server communication. - Management: Offers Web Console (GUI/CLI) with RESTful API for monitoring, managing processes, and integrating with other solutions. How it Works (Simplified): - Connect: A local Connect:Direct server (PNODE) initiates a connection to a remote server (SNODE). - Transfer: Files are securely transferred using a defined process (e.g., submitted via CLI/API). - Monitor: The Web Console provides a holistic view of transfer status and allows for management. Common Uses: - Moving large datasets between remote offices and data centers. - Automating data exchange for supply chain, financial reporting, and other enterprise needs. - Replacing less reliable methods like FTP for critical data movement.
